She called us up after we ate and she said, Mom, guess what? Dad, guess what? I am going to get to interview Michelle Tofoya.

And she said, she is my biggest mentor. She said, that is who I really want to assimilate and aspire to. She said, I just

have followed her so long. And she was so excited. And after the interview, she sent us those

pictures that were on the, that your friend had seen. And she said, I achieved one of my goals, mom.

I met Michelle Tofoya. And that was six weeks before she died.

That is Karen McCord, the mother of young Carly McCord, an up-and-coming sports reporter

whom I had the pleasure of meeting one time six weeks before she died in a tragic plane crash.

The story is remarkable.

Carly was a sports reporter, as I said, married to a young man whose dad, in other words,

her father-in-law was the offensive coordinator at LSU.

Joe Burrow and LSU were playing in the Peach Bowl, the semifinals before the national

championship. Carly was on her way to cover the game. She got on a small prop plane, hours before the

game, and minutes after takeoff, the plane crashed. Carly McCord's mom, Karen, has written a book called Only Rainbows that talks about,

of course, the amazing life of Carly and how she's handling and the family is handling this
