They lose 20 to 9 to the Houston Texans. There were some takeaways from it that I think were positives. And for me, just to reset, we open the show here is, you know, the past few days, I've been prematurely dismissive of Malik Cunningham, getting into the game and saying, okay, just one big play. All it's going to be is Michael Bishop talk all over again 20 plus years later. Here we go. And you know what? Given his skill set, the ability, he's more suited to today's offensive game in the NFL. And I know he's going up against third, fourth stringers, guys that probably won't even be in the league in a few weeks, Joe, but there's something there. And by something, that doesn't necessarily mean the starter, the backup, maybe as a gadget |
| 1:51.5 | player. |
| 1:51.9 | There's something with Malik Cunningham, that kind of thing, football intelligence, speed, |
| 1:57.4 | shiftiness. |
| 1:58.6 | And it wasn't just the rushing touchdown. |
| 2:00.5 | He should have had a passing touchdown as well. He got let down by the drop pass. Who was it again? Trey Nixon. Tray Nixon, another preseason, darling, that probably should have made Jay Sto's Deuce tears, but they're Jay's Deuce tears, not my tears. There's something there. So can he be a Tassum Hill? can he be a Cordell Stewart when he first came into the league? Something like that. |
| 2:18.5 | Azakeem, remember him? There's something there. So can he be a Tassum Hill? Can he be a Cordell Stewart when he first came into the league? |
| 2:36.1 | Something like that. Azakeem, remember him with the Rams? That is who I'm thinking of, right? He was kind of a, they used him as kind of a gadget guy. Can he be a gadget guy? Can you draw up some plays from Elite Cunningham in the red zone? I feel like, I don't know, I find him intriguing. So, yep, late in a preseason game, you got to take it with a grain of salt. |
| 2:51.1 | But I left that feeling like, I don't know, I find him intriguing. So, yep, late in a preseason game, you got to take it with a grain of salt. But I left that feeling like, huh, they might have something. And maybe more than anything else, Joe, it's because I think the Patriots desperately need a guy, like someone that puts asses in seats, someone your aunt knows. And she doesn't really watch a lot of football. Oh, have you heard of this, Malik Cunningham? |
| 2:52.0 | I hear he's fun. |
| 2:53.6 | They don't have a guy like that anymore. |
| 2:54.0 | They don't. |
| 2:55.4 | They've lacked buzz post-Bradie. |
| 2:56.3 | I need fun. |
| 2:56.8 | I need buzz. They desperately need it. Even in wins, I've mentioned it a few times. You and I do in the post game last year. even after wins after a couple of segments. |
| 3:02.9 | I'm like, what are we supposed to talk about? |
