It is so important that we find often Dr. Luke uses this expression one thing.

We've seen three occasions already in the Gospel according to Luke.

Let me show you a fourth one today.

In Luke chapter number 10, Jesus is in Bethany according to Luke. Let me show you a fourth one today. In Luke chapter number 10,

Jesus is in Bethany at the house of Mary and Martha. You know the story. And the Bible says in

verse 38, now it came to pass as they went that he entered into a certain village and a certain

woman named Martha received him into her house. And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus' feet and heard his word.

But Martha was cumbered about much serving and came to him and said,

Lord, does thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone?

Bitter therefore that she helped me.

Sounds like a lot of sibling rivalries doesn't it and jesus answered

and said unto her martha martha thou art careful and troubled about many things but one thing is needful

and mary have chosen that good part which shall not be taken away from her.

Did you hear it?

In verse number 42 of Luke chapter 10, one thing is needful.

Notice, Jesus didn't say that the many things were bad.

He just said that one thing was needful.

You know, the longer you live, the more you realize that some things really just don't matter.

And some things matter less and less.
