Everyone loves a good story and a good storyteller.

But there is no storyteller like the Lord Jesus, and there are no greater stories told than the ones Jesus shared.

In this study, spiritual stories, we consider the parables Jesus told

and their application to us. These are truly the greatest stories ever told, and the Lord

has something He wants to say to you through them. Let's join Scott Pauli now. We're returning today to this amazing chapter, Matthew chapter number 13.

It's like a deep well.

Every time you go back to it, you draw up more life-giving water, so rich and so full of the teachings of our Lord Jesus.

And today we come to one of the parables that is found only in Matthew chapter 13.

It is commonly referred to as the parable of the pearl of great price.

And it is found in Matthew chapter 13, verse 45 and 46.

For Jesus said, again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a merchant man seeking goodly pearls,

who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had and bought it.

Now, if this sounds a little like the previous parable, it should,

because in the previous parable, you'll remember our Lord Jesus was a man

who found a treasure in a field and sold everything that he had and bought that field

so they could have that treasure.

And we identified that treasure.

And we identified that treasure as the nation of Israel.

Because repeatedly in the Old Testament scriptures, Israel was called God's great treasure.

But now we come to a very similar story, but a different picture in Matthew chapter 13, verse 45 and 46.

What is this one pearl?
