All right, folks, last week we did an examination of consciousness.

We looked at various crises in the world and in the church

that stand in opposition to our faith in Jesus Christ and our discipleship. They stand in the way

because they make Christ less real. We reduce Jesus to his kindness. We reduced Jesus to just

seeing him in our neighbor or we reduce Jesus to our theological

diagrams.

But we aren't seeing the real Jesus.

We can only do that if, through faith, we encounter him again and again in the Gospels

and in prayer.

What did this man?

Not what does the divine nature mean or what does the humanity of Christ mean?

Those are important questions, but they only serve to support the primary question.

When God became man, what did this man actually say? What did he actually do? What did he actually

feel? How did he respond?

That is what makes him real.

This week's question is, how did Jesus himself pray?

How did he model it for his disciples?
