We're so caught up on what's happening today.

I think it's important to look back at past political cycles to see how Democrats, now reeling,

have gone through similar times in the not-so-distant past.

The answer is, has it ever happened before?

Yes, it has.

Flashback to 1968.

In black and white, basically, film.

That's how they used to do news back then. It looked pretty grim for the Dems. After all, LBJ said, I'm not going to be running again. Not popular anyway. Vietnam War was raging. Civil rights were a problem. Hubert Humphrey stepped in. And guess what? Republican Richard Nixon ultimately walked away with the presidential win. Republicans were suddenly back in charge, first time since Eisenhower.
