So in our first session we dealt with the heart of pastoral ministries of working from

joy in Jesus with joy for the joy of our people.

And then in the second session,

we reflected on the two main tasks, teaching, feeding,

and leading, governing. And now in this final session I want to address

could call it two practical issues

two places where the surrounding world intersects and creates points of tension today in pastoral

ministry and in the church.

At first glance, you might think, well well husband of one wife and not quarrelsome

so like a random pairing. Five of those two how do they go together?

We were planning on this and talked to Rich. I'm assuming Rich talking to Dan and we're trying to think of what topics and they suggested the

two and we can make that happen and we can pair them together as I've thought about it. the two

There are at least two threads, among others, that hold these two together.

First, both are particularly countercultural today.

One has been for a while.

The other... One has been for a while.

The other, at least to me, in my experience and anecdotes,

feels all of a sudden more recent.

I don't think I would have felt the weight of it or talked about it the same way five years ago or definitely ten years ago.

Something has to do with the internet.
