And that was the case for Liverpool taking on Lask in Group E for match day one. They went behind though.

After changes to the Liverpool side, that goal coming from Florian Flecker for Lask, but changes were made and Jürgen Klopp's man managed to rally back.

A Darwin Nunez penalty in the 56 was followed up by a Louis Diaz goal in the 63rd, lovely team move that led to that one.

And in the 88th minute substitute, Mosella came off the bench and scored a lovely goal that made Jürgen Klopp smile in the stands.

Do you know what I think, honestly, there's a what we're going to see in the qualifying rounds as far as Liverpool's concerned.

He's going to play players that maybe wouldn't normally play. He's going to play players at a position that he probably wouldn't normally do.

And today we're visiting each playing right back as a perfect example.

I mean, he looked out of place there. He didn't look comfortable defending. His passing wasn't particularly great, which is not like him.

And so Klopp tried something, and it didn't work. And if you look at that right hand side, Dock, Elliott and Bajicic, that's a really inexperienced right hand side of the field show.

It wasn't funny watch. I was figuring out when they were going to bring the big guns on. And of course, as soon as they got that equalizing goal, then Liverpool changed gear.

And Slaub was like, came on, McAllister came on, Salah came on. And then it actually looked like Liverpool.

So by the end, I'd sort of changed my outlook on things. I wasn't happy at half time. But by the end, I'm realizing this is what I think Klopp's going to be doing, as I said, particularly through the qualifying stages, trying things, trying players and getting players time.

There shouldn't be going behind to last, even if it isn't a full strength side.

My only complaint to Rob about that is, you see that from Liverpool time to time again, where I think they're pouring the first half and then you can Klopp makes changes or say something in the dressing room. And Liverpool seem to be at their best in the second 45.

That aside, I'm a Stevie and that, against last, you make changes, even if you go behind, job done. I mean, it's kind of given the calendar and the amount of games you expect Liverpool to be playing, if they go deep in cup competitions, not just in the Europa League, you understand those changes.

You understand going behind, and it's all about that, that league experience. And for me, while Stevie may have been a little bit concerned in the first half, you just looked at that bench and you knew that Jürgen Klopp could change things in an instant with one or two inclusions, and that's exactly how it proved.
