James resumes his exploration of Italy, this time, he's on the trail of the Canadians and particularly the Hastings and Prince Edward Regiment as they battled their way from the toe to the mountains of Molise and beyond.

1:10.0 | And they've come across in the toe of Italy, into Regio and Calabria, Kat and Zada, where I was a few days ago down on the bottom there, |
1:22.0 | and they've moved all this way up here, up into the plain of Fodja and then up into the mountains. |
1:28.0 | By this time, it's October. |
1:31.0 | And it's just a really tough slog for these guys. |
1:36.0 | And the thing that's really striking me is just the distance. |
1:40.0 | I mean, it felt like a massive distance for me, in the last two and a half days. |
1:45.0 | But you know, you imagine doing that on roads which are mainly, you know, hardly any of them are asphalted. |
1:52.0 | They're all kind of what we would call straddle Bianca, kind of dirt roads, gravel roads, in those old trucks and whatnot. |
2:00.0 | And you just start to realise why it takes so long. |
2:04.0 | And the problem is, is by the time you've got off the plane, you're now in kind of German territory. |
2:09.0 | This is where the enemy are. |
2:11.0 | And you just don't know which towns are going to be occupied by the Germans and which aren't. |
