When Jesus handed the morsel to Judas, it was a mark of special affection.

There is tragedy here.

Again and again Jesus appealed to that dark heart and again and again Judas remained

unmoved.

God saved us from being completely impervious to the appeal of love.

Few things are harder to endure than the betrayal of a trusted friend, especially when

the disloyalty has been surreptitious and lurking in the shadows for a long time.
