I can't live without stories. If you're listening, you're at least a little bit like me, and

I relish the chance to bring these stories to you.

Life has its risks. Some people seek them out by jumping out of airplanes or eating sushi

from the gas station. Others just take calculated risks when necessary during an inpatient operation

or a need to drive through Boston at rush hour. Risks are everywhere, really. I mean, you

can break your neck in the bathtub. Now, I personally am not a risk taker.

At those little carnivals that popped up for a weekend in the parking lot of the mall

when I was growing up, my friends would go on some terrifying ride called the Screamer,

where you hung upside down, screaming. But I'd be down below on, you know, the Peter

Cottontail ride, turning in a slow, boring circle. I wasn't afraid of dying on the terrifying

ride. If you must know, I was actually afraid that my shirt would fall down, and that other

kids would say, did you hear the news? Meg Wallitzer was topless on the Screamer, pass it

on. But danger. Danger is something else altogether. It looms over us. It threatens us
