This is Climate One. I'm Greg Dalton. The climate crisis already factors into where people choose and are

forced to live.

And it's projected to get worse.

By 2070, that 1% of the planet that has historically been inhospitable expands to 20% of the planet's surface.

According to the U.N., most climate displacement will be within borders.

In the U.S., we don't really have a system that is set up to handle that.

We just don't have a deep knowledge about the rights of internally displaced persons in this country.

We never really thought about what it is to have people displaced within our own borders.

On a global scale, where will climate displacement be most disruptive?

Every single region of the world will be affected by climate displacement in some way.

I think those regions that are particularly prone to sort of natural hazards,

they will be much more impacted by sort of climate shocks.
