Summary

In this message, from Pastor Levi Lusko, we’re challenged to examine whether we’re truly running the life of faith, or just drifting along the course. Looking at Hebrews 12, this message reminds us that following Jesus isn’t passive. God has set a race before each of us, and He intends to reward faithfulness. At the same time, Scripture warns that the enemy is actively trying to steal what God wants to place in our hands. This message explores:The reality of eternal rewards and the Heavenly crowns available to usHow distraction and forgetfulness quietly pull us off paceThe importance of remembering our callingRunning with focus, attention, and effortHebrews tells us to “run with endurance the race set before us, looking unto Jesus.” You’re not racing against anyone else, you’re running the course God uniquely designed for you.NEXT STEPS:Ask for prayer or connect with a pastor: https://freshlife.church/contactRegister your decision to follow Jesus and receive free resources: https://freshlife.church/know-godGive a financial gift to support what God is doing as we take steps forward to see the Gospel reach far and wide: https://freshlife.church/giveSUBSCRIBE:Sign up to receive encouragement straight to your inbox, and to stay up to date with announcements, events, and more: https://church.us13.list-manage.com/subscribe?u=6ea4d82b2567db3e86b7767cd&id=451f2fe63eDon’t miss a video! One of those statistics that you can't lock down, at least I haven't been able to, but you will see it online and it goes like this

0:06.6

90 to 95 percent, and you'll see it both ways, 90 or 95 percent of people will never again sprint after turning 30 for the rest of their lives.

0:19.4

Now, of course, how do you lock down such a thing?

0:23.3

But if you think about it, when was the last time you sprinted?

0:26.8

You're like, I sprints all the time.

0:27.8

No, I'm not talking about jogging.

0:30.2

I'm not talking about running.

0:33.5

Sprinting by definition is the fastest your body is capable of going, i.e., that's what life is like

0:43.2

when you're seven. You know what I'm saying? My assistant, his son got new shoes, and he was telling me

0:48.5

about me. He's like, I got new shoes. And I was like, like Pastor Carl needs to give for his son.

0:52.6

I was, I was, this kid just dad shaming up here.

0:57.9

Nice boots, son.

0:59.2

And the son says back, this is the only pair of shoes I have.

1:02.3

Good grief.

1:03.6

If that isn't fatherhood, nothing is.

1:06.3

I've never seen anything quite like it.

1:09.4

So Miles has these new shoes. And I said, Miles, cool shoes. And he goes, you know how fast I can run in them? Because remember that? When you're a kid, you're just thinking, like, new shoes means I'm going to be like fast like lightning, right? You know what I'm saying? Like, you just sprinted all the time. So if you think about it, those of you who are over 30, when was the last time you sprinted?

1:29.9

And that's the reason why so many fathers, maybe moms too, probably mostly fathers, though,

1:35.9

end up at like the picnic for their kids where the dad's there, all the kids are there and

1:41.3

they're somehow like a foot race, right? And the dads think, oh, I got this still. I, I, I'm, and they tear a hamstring. You know what's like, it's like, tailless old is time because if you don't use it, what do you do? And if you don't sprint, and then all of a sudden you try to, it's like when Samson said, I shall tear these cords like I did at other times,

2:01.1

but he didn't know the spirit of God was gone. Uh-oh. Uh-oh. He tried to use it, not knowing he had lost,

2:08.1

he tried to flex, he tried to sprint, not knowing it wasn't there anymore. So it's an interesting,
