Summary

In This Episode:

On this week's On The Couch, Sigmund Bloom is joined by Dan Schneier of CBS Sports to preview the first round of the NFL Draft through a fantasy football lens — and this class brings serious juice. The guys break down the top wideouts who could reshape both NFL offenses and fantasy leagues the moment they step on the field.

They dive into the explosive upside of Jordyn Tyson, the polished, pro‑ready game of Carnell Tate, and the dynamic versatility of Makai Lemon — three prospects who could all land in the first round and immediately command fantasy attention. From landing‑spot volatility to target‑share upside, Bloom and Schneier map out how each player could hit big in Year 1.

Why could Casey Concepcion emerge as the top fantasy wide receiver in this class when we learn where the players will go one week from today.

0:12.1

Dan Schneier from CBS Sports long awaited.

0:14.9

It's been too long.

0:15.8

I mean, we'd go back and forth a lot, but there's a lot to go back and forth about.

0:20.4

It's an exciting time. Why are you so excited about Casey Concepcion lasting until the end of the first round? Before I talk about that, SIG, I do have to say I'm excited just to be here today on this show. This has been a long time coming for me. I've been a huge fan of yours from so, like, afar at first first and then we connected on Twitter and we've been

0:37.9

kind of discussing football that way but I really just do appreciate and love the way that you

0:42.0

approach the game of fantasy football because it's the way that I look at the game so maybe

0:45.6

that's a little biased from that lens in my my regard but it's that 30,000 foot top down view

0:51.3

of football and how it impacts fantasy and I really do feel like you can find edges that way and you can find ways to just have fun talking about fantasy football that's the really the way I look at it as well it's just more fun to talk about it this way so been a huge fan of yours been a huge fan of the show so I'm excited to get a chance to be on it now as far as far as Casey Concepcion goes, I've been toying with

1:11.4

this idea. Jacob and I are going to do our wide receiver preview next week. And I'm scared. I feel

1:17.5

a little nervous about it, Sig, but I'm bordering on the idea of having him as my wide receiver one for

1:22.0

fantasy football purposes. I want to make that clear going into the season. And the reason being is

1:27.1

when I watch his tape and I watch the tape of the rest of this class, I think he has defining traits that translates to the next level that some of these receivers don't have. I'm going to start with the most important one for me. And it's his release package off the line of scrimmage. If you go and watch the Notre Dame tape, I think that, to me, is the best tape of any wide receiver in this class

1:44.7

in general. And he's doing it at times against who I think is going to be the best corner to come into the draft next year, obviously, Leonard, the best corner in this draft in any draft class for probably the next five, ten years. And some reps against him in the red zone, I'm like, holy crap this guy's release package off the line of scrimmage is going to get him open for touchdowns early. But then it's on the vertical plane as well. The way he sets up his double moves, the way that he decelerates before accelerating, it's going to be a nightmare for any corner and off coverage. And so that release package will carry over. And he does a great job, in my opinion, of using his hands as well to create separation at the top of his routes both on the vertical plane and then the big thing for

2:21.8

me and why i think he can break fantasy if he gets with the right fit and we'll talk about that today

2:25.9

is that he's the most devastating receiver in this class to me by far a creating separation on

2:31.5

the horizontal routes the overr, the things that have basically taken

2:34.5

over the NFL, that every coordinator is running. It's the way to beat these, you know, too high, cover two, cover three, cover six looks. And when I watch him on these overrouts, I'm seeing him use his hands at the top of the route to create separation, but also seeing just a devastating athleticism that corners cannot keep up with. and man if you put him with shanahan, you know, or you put him in one of those types of schemes, any of the Shanahan tree schemes, I could just see him immediately eating up fantasy football because after he gets the ball in his hand, SIG, that's when the magic really happens for Casey Concepcion. Yeah. And before we went on, you and I like that you're picturing this because, you know, we're close enough to the draft now.

3:11.0

It's a week away.

3:12.3

It's time to really start picturing these players as the, I mean, there's a thing about the draft.

3:17.7

Let me just say quickly as an aside.

3:20.7

And I got to attend the draft for like four years in a row early in my career back when it was at Radio City Music Hall.
