Summary

It's Super Cups galore on today's edition of On The Continent as Dotun, Andy and Nicky Bandini recap a cracking win for Inter over Juventus in last night's Supercoppa - with a 120th-minute winner from Alexis Sánchez, no less!

The Saudi Arabian edition of the Spanish Super Cup also raises a few eyebrows and we pore over Bayern's decision to make Kingsley Coman the highest-paid employee of any company in the universe.

Welcome to another episode of on the continent, your one-stop shop, for everything to do with European football, I'm Dawson Alibio.

0:11.0

I'm Alibrasil. I'm Nikki Bandini.

On today's edition Mamma Mia, the big guns of Italy line up for the Super Cup, and a familiar face bags the winner, also Paul Favore, the big guns of Spain are squaring up for their own Super Cup.

0:29.0

And the 17 million euros a year, man, the German champions didn't need the transfer window to get him, but he's worth it.

0:40.0

Nikki apologies for the Mamma Mia, I had to do it. I had to do this.

0:45.0

Do we talk about the Super Cup in real terms then? It's the old usual suspects maybe?

0:54.0

Yeah, something sort of quite familiar about it, although this isn't actually a matchup that we've had in the Super Cup for a long time, because it didn't happen one of the week for a long time.

1:03.0

And they actually haven't done particularly one of the cup either.

1:06.0

So it's the first time they've won it, in fact, the first Super Cup they've won since 2010, when they won the Triple also before and the last league title before Antonio Cone came along.

1:20.0

So it was a landmark win for interaction. I think a lot of people felt like when you sort of take a step back, especially, and you even just went back to this summer.

1:31.0

There was a lot of people felt like we'd reached the end of an interproject already that we'd had this sort of moment under Antonio Conte, they'd won the league and then he'd gone, the car could gone, he came, he'd gone.

1:42.0

It was like someone had showed up the minute they won the title, like the Repo people showed up and started taking all the pieces away and told them, you know, they'd spent too much and we're reclaiming everything.

1:52.0

And I think this was a moment to sort of really validate what we've already seen in the league this season, which is not true.

1:59.0

They have actually not just managed to maintain some of what they had under Antonio Conte, but they're actually becoming something completely different under Simona Insagi that is in some ways even matter.

2:13.0

So it's a Super Cup, it's the lease of Inter's ambitions probably for this season, but it's also the first one they could win this season.

2:20.0

And I think it's not at all to be dismissed. I think it was quite an important and big moment for them in this season.

2:27.0

It's great to see it being about coaches now from Conte to Insagi.

2:32.0

Yeah, and you know, it did feel as if Inter were only going one way when Conte went and that's before we even get to Hakimi and Lukaku.

2:41.0

I think because the Lukaku thing was such a big deal, it almost needs a bit of reminding that Antonio Conte went as well.

2:48.0

And look, Insagi has done an incredible job.

2:53.0

But you're right, Nikki, the way that Inter celebrated it, it was really joyous.

3:00.0

And I think to crush Juventus in that way, it was a big deal as well, wasn't it?
