On this day 80 years ago, more than 160,000 Allied troops were preparing to head into a long-anticipated invasion of Normandy, France -- not knowing that June 6th, 1944 would become one of the most memorable days in history. Today, Martha sits down with 104-year-old WWII veteran Steven Melnikoff on Omaha Beach, where he landed 80 years ago as a 24-year-old soldier with the 29th Infantry Division. Melnikoff recounts what he remembers most clearly from that day and those that followed -- from being wounded in battle to witnessing countless acts of bravery. 0:56.8	Steve Meldonkov landed here on Omaha Beach behind us in France 80 years ago at the age of 24. That's right. That makes him 104. He fought with the 29th Division
1:04.4	175th in the infantry and he earned two purple hearts and three bronze stars,
1:11.4	initially in Operation Overlord,
1:13.2	and then here in Normandy, France in the weeks that followed.
1:16.1	Look at these wonderful pictures of these young men
1:19.0	and Steve among them.
1:19.9	He told me about his memories from 80 years ago,
1:22.7	what he thinks of the nation that he and others fought
1:26.7	and so many died for, and how he thinks it's doing today.
1:30.3	I'm Steve Ronald Carr and I'm with the 29th division, I was with the 29th Division, one of the
1:38.3	D-Day divisions and it was on Omaha Beach And I'm originally from Rhode Island.
1:45.0	And then my work after took me to Baltimore area, that's where I lived out of Baltimore area.
1:51.0	I saw you actually, it was a few years back, you were talking to the Baltimore Ravens.
