The Michael Barry show years ago today, this day, April 19, 1993, the standoff at the

Branch Davidian compound in Waco came to a fiery end. Prior to that, when tensions were

high, a very, very rare, odd, unprecedented perhaps move occurred, where the FBI allowed

criminal defense attorney Dick DeGaron to enter the compound and talk to the folks within

in the hopes that he'd be able to talk them into coming out. There's a new documentary

out about this whole thing, and I think it's in light. There were a lot of things about

the seeds that I did not know. Dick DeGaron, welcome to the program.

Thank you, Michael. So let me start with, have you seen the documentary?

I have. I participated in it. Okay. Did you, I didn't know if you'd seen the finished product,

and is there anything about that, or is the list too long? Is there anything about it that you

go, well, that part's just not true? Well, yeah, I didn't agree with some of the things that

the ATF guys talked about, but there were a lot of things that I learned from watching that,

that I didn't know. For instance, the filming of the FBI negotiators during the siege while they

were negotiating. I didn't know that that even existed, but it was very well done. I thought that

it was done without judgment, which is what needs to, the facts need to be out there so people

can make their own minds up. Let me go back to your involvement in this. I remember watching this,

and it was absolutely riveting as the nation watched this play out. Prior to David Kuresh's mom

calling you, had you been watching what was, were you aware of what was going on there?

Oh, yeah, I think the world was aware. It was a huge thing that I was actually in South Texas

hunting when I heard about it. I saw that it was the ATF that was involved, that it was a

disastrous raid, and knowing a lot about the ATF at that time, I figured that the ATF probably

really screwed it up, and they did. How many days into the standoff were you brought in?
