Exciting news here at the beginning.

I mentioned on previous episodes that the Emerald podcast was starting a small granting program to support the work of podcast patrons who are doing incredible things to keep

the spark of animacy alive in this modern age and really excited to announce that the first round

of grants has been given. And I wanted to take a moment to just mention the projects and

a little bit about them. And you can find out a lot more about

them at patreon.com slash the Emerald podcast. So to me, these projects are just brimming with

spirit and are exactly what is called for in times like we're living through. And it just

fills me to know and to know that the podcast can help

support projects like this. And really, the process of starting this grant program has shown me

how much incredible work this community, the community of Emerald listeners and the community

of Emerald Podcast patrons is engaged in. and it's really meaningful world-altering

work. So I just want to say thank you to everyone who applied, first of all. We got over 300

applications, and I want to acknowledge just the tremendous amount of work that's being done and the

heart and spirit and care that is going into it.

So one of the projects that we chose to fund is a project which seeks to preserve

traditional Shepibo-Kinibo stories by recording, transcribing, and translating them.

Basically, there's a tremendous wealth of Shepibo knowledge that exists within the Shepibo
