Hey, Bridgetown Church, love to all of you.

Please turn your Bibles to Matthew chapter 16, as we step back into our multi-year teaching

series on Matthew.

If you're new to our church or visiting online, we oscillate back and forth between teaching

on a practice from the way of Jesus, we just finished up simplicity and then teaching

through a book from the library of Scripture.

Now, when COVID-19 hit in March, our teaching schedule for 2020 went out the window and there's

a lot of chaos in the world right now.

We're kind of just waiting for the next shoe to drop, but we thought it would be fitting

just to, for the rest of the summer, to just sit in the stories about Jesus and the teachings

of Jesus and just immerse our mind and our imagination and our entire soul in the Jesus

that we apprentice under as we kind of catch our breath before the fall.

That said, Matthew chapter 16, let's read from the very end of the chapter, verse 28.

Truly I tell you, some who are standing here will not taste death before they see the

Son of Man coming in his kingdom.

After six days, Jesus took with him Peter, James, and John, the brother of James, and led

them up a high mountain by themselves.

There he was transfigured before them.

His face, shown like the sun and his clothes, became as white as the light.

Just then, there appeared before them Moses and Elijah talking with Jesus.

Peter said to Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here.

If you wish, I will put up three shelters, one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.
