Last week we left Jane praying after having heard Rochester's voice calling for her.

Chapter 36 starts the next morning.

Jane is set to leave to try to find Rochester.

Jane waits for Sinjin to leave more house before she will even leave her room.

He's finally leaving to go visit those friends in Cambridge,

but he leaves her note saying he will pray for her,

and that she will see the light and marry him, or risk going to hell.

She all but dismisses the note and then leaves later that same day, heading for Thornfield.

It takes 36 hours to get to Thornfield,

and that's not including dropping off her trunk at the Rochester Arms, the local inn,

and walking up to the house.

When she finally arrives at her old home looking to find Rochester, the house is gone.

It is a burnt ruin, pretending no life and nothing but horror.
