The Christian life cannot be reduced to a man-made list of things to do and not to do.

However, when God gives a specific list in Scripture, we must take careful note of His priorities.

Today we examined the Lord's to-do list found in

1st Thessalonians chapter 5. Let's join Scott Pauline now as we uncover divine instructions for the last

days. I hear so little discussion today about the work of sanctification.

Now, we love to talk about salvation, and thank God we've been saved, and we're not going to hell.

But friends, sanctification is a part of our salvation.

It is the ongoing work of the God of salvation in our hearts.

It is the Lord delivering us day by day from the power of sin.

I'm afraid too many people are content to say I've been delivered from the penalty of sin,

but I'm not really worried about being delivered from the power of sin.

Brother, if you truly know the Lord Jesus as your personal Savior, you're not going to want to

sin. You're not going to want to go on in sin. Paul said, shall we continue in sin that grace may

abound? God forbid. That's strong language. Then he says, how shall we that are dead to sin live any longer

therein? If you've truly been saved, you will desire the Lord to make you more like himself.

We've come in our list, the Lord's list, 1st Thessalonians chapter 5, to these two verses that God connects. He says in verse 22,

abstain from all appearance of evil. Then in verse 23, and. You see the connection between the two

verses. And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly. And I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved

blameless under the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ you remember that all of first

Thessalonians is about the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ don't forget that and he's coming

near the end of the letter now. He's about to sign off.

Usually last words are very significant. And there are lasting principles found in them. He's saying to
