Many of his fans from around the globe often speak of his gigs as spiritual experiences in which the silences are just as important as the notes.

And he applies that sensibility once again on his new album and East African Journey, a record

that features an entire program of field recordings

from East Africa of traditional musicians and instruments. Omar Sosa spoke to me from his home in

Paris, and we'll get to that conversation, but first, let's hear some music from the album.
