It's October 9th, 2018, and it's an ordinary Tuesday morning at a car dealership on

Leibert Road in Hartford, Connecticut.

The Valenti Hartford dealership is the kind of place that smells like floor wax and fresh

coffee, where salespeople and button-down shirts drift between rows of vehicles and the whole place

homes with a low-level professional energy.

People typically just come in, talk numbers, sign paperwork, and drive away in something

new.

But at some point that morning, a couple walks in.

They have two corgis with them.

The man, who has long hair and a beard, is quiet and wearing a black

t-shirt. He doesn't introduce himself, nor does he make much in the way of conversation. A salesman

named Alexander Mandel is pulled off the floor to serve as a witness to a document signing. Mandel

later told the Hartford Current that he did not even know who the couple was.

He was told he thinks that the man was a rock star or something.

His words not mine.

He did not really say anything, Mandel told the paper.

The man just signed.
