Older workers need not apply?

I'm Barbara Bogave sitting in for Warren Only, and this is To the Point from Public Radio International,

a daily look at the issues Americans care about most.

This week, lawmakers in Washington introduced a new bill to renew the long-term unemployment benefits

for the more than 3 million Americans still struggling to find work.

The harsh fact is, though, that certain segments of the labor force are out of the game for good.

Often women, ages 45 to 55, are facing their 60s with

an even tougher chance at reentering the workforce than men. And both genders are cut out of a labor

market that values youth over experience. What do we lose when older workers stay home? Also, on

today's talking point, religious freedom versus the public health.
