| 0:00.0 | Hello friends welcome back to another episode of Old Testament in the raw this is week three of the |
| 0:06.4 | Sunday school class that I've been teaching and in this lecture slash lesson slash discussion whatever you want to call it I feel weird calling it a lecture |
| 0:17.4 | it's more than a discussion because it's but mostly me talking so it is sort of a teaching time anyway this week we dug into Genesis 2 and |
| 0:27.6 | Genesis 3 I began by summarizing some key things that we talked about last Sunday in Genesis 1, namely how Genesis 1 emphasizes |
| 0:40.1 | the transcendence of God while also elevating the high status of humanity in the |
| 0:48.4 | Declaration in Genesis 1 26 to 28 that humanity is created in God's image. So we began this Sunday teasing that out a little bit talking about the idle background to the concept of being created in God's image that it's sort of playing off of the |
| 1:06.0 | well-known theme in the Old Testament that humans are not supposed to worship idols |
| 1:11.6 | and yet the very word image of God, |
| 1:14.6 | image of God plays off of that theme of idolatry. |
| 1:18.1 | And also only kings in Egypt are created in God's image |
| 1:22.4 | according to the ancient nearest mindset and so we |
| 1:24.6 | teased that out a little bit as well. Then we dug into Genesis 2 and emphasized or |
| 1:31.2 | at least throughout different ways in which Genesis 2 emphasizes the |
| 1:35.8 | personalness or the imminence of God and we looked at several things there in |
| 1:41.5 | Genesis 2 we we looked at several things there in Genesis 2. We looked at a map where the possible location |
| 1:49.1 | was for the Garden of Eden. |
| 1:50.8 | We also looked at a major theological point in the connection |
| 1:57.7 | between the Garden of Eden and later the later Tabernacle temple, even the |
| 2:02.3 | person of Jesus and also the church and then finally |
| 2:06.1 | we looked at Genesis 3 and the nature of the fall and Adam and Eve's rebellion |
| 2:10.9 | against God so I hope you enjoy this lecture, this Old Testament in |
| 2:16.9 | the Raw episode. It did, so the recording again is you know I recorded on a little $10 |
