Chapter 15 if you will and we're going to continue talking a little bit about what we talked

about last week. Do you remember what we talked about last week? Anyone remember the title?

Basically these will be in a two-part series as far as I know at this time,

and tonight we're going to talk about offenses.

Offenses. Now the first time I ever preached on offenses, God gave me just tremendous

revelation and I preached on different facets of it,

different aspects of it for years now, but I preached the first time in 1989

at Shady Grove Church where I was Associate Pastoral then on offenses.

And we were gathered for prayer before the service and one of the pastors said to me,

what are you preaching on today?

And I was trying to really enunciate my words and so I said,

Ofenses. And he said, old fences?

Now, that wasn't quite what it was,

but that's actually what I'm going to title the message tonight,

old fences, because that's exactly what offenses are.

They are fences because they divide us. We put them up between us and someone else and they divide us in the body of Christ.

But they're also old because if they happened five minutes ago it's in the past.

If the offense was when you were walking in the night

and I didn't get here in time to shake your hand or talk to you,

or you and your wife had a fight on the way over it and you're still upset about what he said or she said

or if it happened 10 years ago it's still an old fence it's still in the past and it is separating you not only from that person.
