It's a balmy night in Los Angeles County as the summer's humidity has finally arrived to take

hold, trapping moisture against skin and causing people everywhere the type of

discomfort that gets air conditioning units buzzing like crickets endlessly into the night.

But it isn't just the people who are feeling it.

We call them the dog days of summer for a reason. Animals are affected by it too. It's agitating, difficult

to feel comfortable while outside. And so anyone who's lived in LA can tell you the dogs will start barking and they won't stop because something is wrong.

Sometimes it's the heat. Other times it's the 4th of July fireworks that actually start in May.

It could even be loud music from a concert,

or even just the passing of pedestrians as they party into the night.

Yet on this evening in Brentwood, the barking was especially pronounced and spread very quickly across town, leaving pet owners scratching their heads in wonder

as to what might be precipitating this cacophony of howling madness.

Was a coyote running through the streets? Had there been a fight between

one of them and a domestic dog? Or had an entire pack attacked somebody's animal.
