We'll get into game three, Winnipeg Jets facing off against the Colorado Avalanche. Game one, the questions revolved around Georgiev. Game two, they revolve around Connor Hallibuck. We'll see what the story comes tonight. Four games on the go around the NHL. three Canadian teams in action, including the Edmonton Oilers,

who are even with the Los Angeles Kings and the venue shifts to California. I swear we're going to make this happen. Watch this. Jason Greger finally makes it happen from Sports 1440. In Edmonton joins me now. We've had two fall starts this week. Jason, thanks so much for hopping on, pal, and being patient with us this week. Oh, hey man, no problem. My apologies for the rookie mistake of not turning my phone back on. You don't like to get fined in the pressers of having your ringer on, so I always shut it off, and then I forgot to turn it back off. Trust me, that sounds like my dating life, people turning their ringers off when I call. Don't worry. Brought back dark memories, nonetheless. Now, we're going to have you on yesterday and we got the news about Bob Cole. Um, and actually, I do want to get your thoughts, uh, on what, you know, your thoughts on his passing, your thoughts on what maybe Bob Cole meant to you, voice of maybe your generation, the games that you watched. When you found out the news yesterday, we'll get to

the Oilers here, but when you found out the news yesterday, what went through your mind?

1:37.5

Well, right away, the first thing was, I was like, man, I was pretty lucky I got to meet Bob

1:41.7

and had many conversations with him over the years on my show. And, you know, because when I was pretty lucky I got to meet Bob and had many conversations with him over the years

on my show. And, you know, because when I was a younger guy listening to him on TV, it wasn't really something I ever thought like, hey, I'm going to meet Bob Cole. So that was kind of the first thing. And just, you know, as much as he loved hockey, the conversations I had with Bob, he was such a family guy. and I think that's always important sometimes to make it's overlooked a little bit.

1:43.8

But his... as much as he loved hockey, the conversations I had with Bob, he was such a family guy, and I think that's always important sometimes to make it overlooked a little bit.

2:04.3

But his ability, what I always found is, and I've done a lot of play-by-play,

2:08.9

but what I found what stood out for Bob was his ability to tell the story and paint the picture for you,

2:16.2

and people were watching it, so he would just add to it.

2:18.7

But he did it with such minimal words that were so powerful and really good at the moment. Right.

2:24.8

Like he could he would say, Marshawn. And then he would just extend his name and say nothing else.

2:29.9

Yeah. Because you saw that he scored. And that was, I know it seems easy, but not a lot of people do it. Sometimes, you know, you get caught up and wanted to say too much. And I thought one of his best skills was he didn't say too much. He let the moment live a lot. And I think the one guy today, Kevin Harlan's kind of the same. He's probably one of my favorite guys I watch now, and he does it in a similar fashion. You know, like Minnie, I went back yesterday after getting home from work and went through all Bob Cole clips, you know, even the radio clip from 72, Foster was doing TV, Bob was doing radio for CBC, his call, with all their respect to the late Foster, his call was better. It just was. I don't think the Foster call of the Henderson goal was that spectacular. It's iconic. Well, we're going to hear it for the rest of our lives, but Bob's call was better. But the one that I kept coming back to, and Mary Lemieux against the North Star is in 91, Neil Wilkinson and Sean Chambers and that's a wonderful call

and he ends it up and finishes it off
