The U.S. military has now seized a large oil tanker off the coast of Venezuela. In fact,

President Trump said it was the largest one ever seized. The operation involved

the FBI, Homeland Security Investigations, and the U.S. Coast Guard. They had a warrant for the

tanker, saying it was used to transport sanctioned oil from Venezuela in Iran. Video of the

seizure shows troops repelling out of helicopters that hovered above the tanker's deck before

entering the ship with long guns.

Officials say there was no resistance from the crew and no casualties.

Venezuela's government denounced the operation, calling it a blatant theft and an act of international piracy. Of course, the move is just the latest escalation in the Trump administration's

pressure campaign against Venezuela and its authoritarian leader Nicholas Maduro.

Now the country's foreign minister says it's clear the U.S. is not after Venezuela because of

migration, drug trafficking, democracy, or human rights, as American officials have said.

He claims it's really just about resources, like oil, and that this seizure is proof.
