Oh, Hello everyone and welcome to talk nerdy. It's Monday July 17th and I'm

your host Kara Santa Maria. So I've got a little bit of business here at the top of the

show. I mentioned it the last couple weeks and if you're listening to this after the actual

air date like most people do with podcasts I apologize because this

event may have already passed but this Saturday in Los Angeles we will be

hosting a really great fundraising opportunity for

Saikom Camp, which is the Science Communication Retreat that's hosted by myself

and two of my colleagues, Jason Goldman and Sarah Curtis. It's every year,

kind of around October, November time in Los Angeles. But we want to be able to offer

scholarships for students to be able to attend. So this weekend,

Saturday, July 22nd, we're having an event at Green Bar Distillery, which is in

downtown Los Angeles, and it's a really fun storytelling workshop.

It's going to be hosted by Brian Wecht and you may know him as the co-founder of Story Collider.

He's also a theoretical physicist

and a prominent youtuber, a member of Ninja Sex Party,

but he's a great storytelling coach.

So we're going to be getting together, having a few drinks, learning how to tell stories in front of an audience. So if that's something that you're interested in, I recommend that you visit the website. It's
