Well, Republicans are in, welcome back a second hour program by the way, Republicans are in charge

of the House of Representatives, and so of course Republicans are going to do what Republicans

love to do. Take food out of the mouths of children.

Seriously, there's a program called the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women,

Infants and Children. It's typically known as WIC, WIC, as in Women, Infants and Children,

and because the aid that was being provided to Americans in 2020, 2021, and much of 2022,

through the American Rescue Plan, Joe Biden's 2021 American Rescue Plan, some of the remnants

of the programs that were left over from the pandemic itself, but mostly the American Rescue Plan,

because much of that aid is now expired. In fact, most of it expired in the last two months.

What we're seeing is more economic hardship among Americans. Over 40% of American families

report that they're having trouble paying their bills right now.

Over a third of Americans have substantial credit card balances that they see no possibility of

paying off in the near future. And so as a result of this, the WIC program, which is for new mothers,

it's for women who have just given birth or are about to give birth, but principally for new mothers
