What is phantom time?

Now I've had a lot of fun revisiting this episode because the phantom time hypothesis

and Anatoli Famenco's new chronology still kind of break my brain.

These are the types of theories that not only challenge our perception of history but

also any sense of objective reality.

The claim that hundreds and in the case of the new chronology thousands of years of human

history never actually occurred and were simply invented by unscrupulous historians

can be genuinely destabilizing.

So in this episode you'll hear me get a little more philosophical and speak explicitly

about how I define the concept of historical truth.

Now I think it's important to ask how do we know if something truly happened in the past?

And I believe that the lazy answer is that we can't really know.

And sure while I generally understand that sentiment I think it can be dangerous to

fully embrace that way of thinking.
