The story I'm sharing tonight comes from 2008.

During my time at Fangoria, we would regularly run subscription drives, which I would manage.

We would for a limited time offer subscriptions at a discounted rate and also offer a freebie

incentive, like sign up for two years at the discounted rate and get like a free shirt or a DVD or something like that.

Or if you could recommend a friend, you would get like a fango bumper sticker or hat or whatever I could find.

These subscription drives were always wildly successful and many of our regular subscribers would wait for this time to renew each year so they could get

whatever incentive we were offering on top of the monthly magazine. And so knowing that once or twice a year,

I would need to send out thousands of free items, I was always on the hunt for t-shirt printing packages

or severely discounted bulk DVD buys. And this was around the same time as the Asian horror boom hitting the U.S.
