| 0:23.2 | Welcome back. This is the Big Blue Banter. New York Giants football podcast. I'm Dan Schneier. |
| 0:28.8 | Joined as always my co-ist Nick Falado. Tonight we are here to break down the Giants' offensive |
| 0:33.4 | all 22 film against the Eagles, a tape that we'd like to watch, analyze, and then bury, |
| 0:39.8 | as I'm sure the Giants would as well. I know Brian Daible made a comment yesterday about watching |
| 0:43.9 | it in the morning and then burying it and then moving on to Washington in the afternoon as soon as |
| 0:48.6 | Monday afternoon. So that's already happened. Similar thing that will do as well, but we are |
| 0:53.3 | looking for what we can take away from |
| 0:55.2 | this tape. And I think one thing that stands out, Nick, because it's something we talk about before |
| 0:59.3 | this game, is Brian Dable made a comment today about how he felt like in the first half, the Giants |
| 1:06.5 | had opportunities that were out there where the Giants receivers got behind the defense defense and the plays weren't made. I thought you did an excellent job clipping up what you thought those plays might be. And we don't know what those plays are because Brian Dable didn't like go play by play. It was this play, this play, this play. But obviously watching the tape, we can make some guesses. I think you did a good job clipping it up, guessing it. And as you'll see on those plays, there are two things at play. One, it's not Brian Dable saying Daniel Jones missed these throws for the most part. It's mostly just, we didn't get these big plays when we got by in the defense because our protection sucks. And he didn't say that and he wouldn't say that, but that's what it looked like on the film. But the other thing at play here is a guy who's |
| 1:48.7 | been much maligned by Giants fans now for a month straight for some, some at sometimes, you know, |
| 1:54.5 | at some points for good reason, I think at most points not for good reason, his offensive |
| 1:59.7 | coordinator Mike Kafka. And that's the other thing at play. Those plays were available. Those players got behind the defense. This is something you just mentioned to me before we started recording it. It really stood out, Nick. Those players got behind the defense because they were good calls by Kafka. They were good route combinations to attack what the Eagles were doing. What are the Eagles doing? They have aggressive corners who are playing Jones Jones incredibly aggressive. It's also why they couldn't just sit in quick game. Look, I wanted to see more shotgun quick game going into this game. We saw a little bit. There was success. Some people were like, well, why didn't we see a lot more? You can't run that all game. That's Jason Garrett offense, right? We've already experienced this. We went through this before. We learned from this as a fan base. We from this ourselves anyone who's watched the giant you can't run quick game all game and you can't run it when you have aggressive all game when you have aggressive corners like the eagles and how they were playing the giants so there were opportunities for big plays down the field but the past production broke down but you still have to give credit in my mind at. And I'll start with this and I'll turn it over to you, Nick. So if they have credit to Kafka for making those calls, right? Like he deserves credit for that. He's not going to get any because our offense is still stinky and because we do have sometimes where I still feel like, Jesus, dude, we run like three plays in a row of quick game. It works. And then we go right back under center and run twice and get into a third and long. And I'm just like at that point, it's like, okay, I understand the criticism. But you still have to give this guy credit when you, when Brian Dable says something like that, like we watch the tape and there were opportunities. If the offensive line breaks down, that's not Mike Kafka's fault, right? That can't be blamed on Kafka. |
| 3:29.2 | A lot of those plays were double moves. Those are long developing plays. And you know that the Giants don't have the offensive line to protect Daniel Jones against that defensive front for |
