Summary

Dan and Nick dive into the All-22 coaches film from the Giants’ Week 1 upset victory over the Titans with this focus being on the offensive side of the ball. They break down everything offense on a drive to drive basis while also tackling key overall concepts like Mike Kafka’s play calling, the blocking, Saquon Barkley’s individual efforts, key plays from Daniel Jones and more. The podcast is jam packed with individual play breakdowns, Xs and Os, offensive line analysis and more. They even touch on a few players individually requested by listeners. Welcome back. This is the big blue banter. New York Giants football podcast. I'm Dan Schneier.

0:11.5

Join as always my co-ist Nick Vallado and really, really excited to break down the All-22 coaches film for both the end zone and the field angles with you guys tonight because this was a special

0:22.6

Giants game. It was a week one win. It was something we just simply haven't seen in a long time.

0:28.2

Hope for a season that ultimately a lot of fans going in, understandably, didn't have a lot of hope for.

0:33.7

And I think now after this game, especially as me and Nick worked through the film and then

0:37.3

talked off pod about what we saw in the film, it's clear that both me and Nick are a lot more hopeful about this specific giant season, albeit a rebuilding one. Shane has made it clear. The giants have made it clear via their actions. They couldn't keep Bradbury. They couldn't keep other veterans on the roster that maybe might have helped them this year. And yet, despite going about it the right way as far as the rebuild goes, really fully peeling that band-aid and ripping it off, they still might be competitive this year. That was obvious with a win over the Titans on the road. And it became more obvious when we watch the tape. And we'll break down part of why tonight, which is the offensive side of the ball.

1:11.4

Obviously, as you know, if you're not new to this podcast, we break down the offensive

1:15.8

all 22 coaches film on this podcast and then coming up next on a separate podcast, we'll

1:20.0

break down the defensive coaching all 22 film.

1:22.9

We might change the format as we go throughout the year, but the crux of it will be the breakdown of

1:28.2

the film. And to me, Nick, I came away even more enthused after watching the tape, specifically

1:33.4

of one person that I felt when I watched the broadcast last night and we went over it on

1:39.5

the podcast, Nick, he had a pretty good game. And then after watching this, I was like, damn,

1:43.5

he had about as

1:44.2

good of a game as you can have for a debut as an offensive play call. And that's Mike Kaffkin. So we're going to talk a lot about Kaffkin tonight. We're going to talk about Daniel Jones, the offensive line, Barclay. A lot of people asking us questions to break down Evan Neal. So I'll definitely to get into that with Nick as well, along with other offensive linemen who stood out.

1:43.6

There were some interesting plays, some interesting releases from wide receivers I want to

1:46.8

bring up, some unharalded guys. And so there's a lot to talk about tonight. Nick, where do you want to start off this bad boy? And just let's start out. Let me actually walk that back a little, Nick. What was your takeaway or what did you feel differently about after watching the film that you might have not felt the same about after our, you know, after watching the broadcast yesterday? Not trying to beat dead horse here, Dan, but I think New York giant fans deserve it. And the thing that I was most excited about, even after the game, we talked about it on yesterday's podcast. After the All-22, I came away even more enthused. And that's Mike Kafka, man. Mike Kafka hit big plays in this game and then went for freaking throat shots with that Cadarius Tony double pass with him being that fast three out there. That was off of a huge Sequin Barclay run, a 33-yard run when the defense was gas, and he goes for the kill. I love that part of him. I love the fact that

2:50.9

he is moving the pocket. I love the fact that he is throwing on obvious rundowns, running on

2:55.3

some passing downs at certain times. I love the way that he adjusted his play calling to combat

3:01.0

the defensive front that Shane Bowen was employing. His overall ability to coach this game was pretty damn excellent, especially when

3:09.9

you consider the fact, Dan, that this guy, this is his first time doing this at a professional
