No one really prepares you for what marriage actually feels like.
Not the first few months.
Not the doubts.
Not the expectations that quietly fall apart.
In this Off The Record conversation, Kayla Levin breaks down the things most people don't talk about — from Shana Rishona struggles to miscommunication to the moments people quietly wonder, did I make a mistake?

| 0:00.0 | What's up, everybody? |
| 0:01.6 | Here is a special episode for you. |
| 0:04.1 | I sat down with Kayla Levin, and we spoke a lot about those first couple of years of being married. What goes right, what goes wrong, and what are things that you could be doing to make your marriage even better? This episode is sponsored by our Meaningful Plus members. This is a Plus episode exclusive. We're going to tease it for you here. You can listen to a little bit of it. But make sure to become a meaningful in a plus member to see so much more content just like this. So what do you say we jump right in? |
| 0:28.9 | Yes, please. Okay. So first of all, we have around 50 people that are watching live. And obviously this is going to be uploaded later for those who couldn't tune in live. |
| 0:39.6 | And questions will come in. |
| 0:40.6 | I have like, I see the comment section on my end. |
| 0:43.2 | So if I see something, I'll definitely bring it up. |
| 0:45.5 | But the first question I want to open with is what's the biggest lie people believe about marriage before they get married? |
| 0:55.3 | So this is a hard one because I think that most people will claim they don't think this, |
| 1:01.5 | but if you look at the behavior and the reactions, we can see that they actually do. |
| 1:06.7 | The biggest lie is that if I'm a good person and he's a good person and it's the right match, then it should go pretty smoothly. |
| 1:18.3 | Okay. And why is that a lie? |
| 1:21.4 | The whole concept of Shannery Shona. The reason we have Shana Rishona, is because there's a developmental stage in relationships. |
| 1:28.3 | We don't start off strong. Like Stephen Covey talks about like a relationship bank account where, you know, with children and coworkers and everyone. |
| 1:37.7 | But the longer you're in a relationship and then more positive deposits you put in. |
| 1:41.4 | So if you have a million dollar bank account and you take out $25, |
| 1:45.0 | it's fine, right? If you have a $40 bank account, you take out $25, which is what a newlywed |
| 1:50.9 | has. They haven't had that much time to create the confidence and the connection and the trust |
| 1:57.8 | in the relationship. And so that that leaves us in a, it's a, it's a challenging phase. It's also really fun. It can also be really wonderful, right? I think sometimes people get confused. They're like, I thought I was supposed to have a terrible time. It's like, no, you can also really enjoy yourself. Right. Right. It's very interesting because I was by a Facebook programLock program, we did a live podcast and one of the questions we had asked. And we did a poll and we got the results of the poll live and it's going to come out in a future episode of Meaningful People. It's really, very, very interesting. And I'm curious how many people who are watching this now, what they would answer, what they would say. But the question was is how many people in this room |
| 2:36.0 | felt like during their first year or marriage or so that they had made a mistake in in marrying their |
| 2:42.8 | spouse yeah and 50 percent so it was like there was like 150 people in the room so 70 by the |
| 2:49.6 | it is like not whatever it is uh they |
