Well, hey everyone, and welcome to Off script. My name is Neil. And today I get to be joined by two folks. We have Matt Williams and Connor Hall, guys. Thanks for being here. What's up? How's it going to be back? I was going to say both of you've been on here a couple of times now. Yeah. It's good to be here. It is. Good to be in. Matt, you spoke on one of just my favorite topics.

One, Galatians, I love a lot of those letters that Paul has written.

But Galatians, man, he just goes hard in the paint at this church in Galatia.

But then you also got this topic where you kind of landed it of identity, which I'm just, I'm so excited to talk about that today.

Go a little bit more in depth on that. But before we do, as you were kind of putting together

your manuscript and thinking about what you wanted to say today during your sermon, what maybe

were some things that you felt like, hey, left off the manuscript? Yeah, I'd probably do just

three up top. We'll go beginning, middle, and end. In the beginning, my opener was going to be a little bit different. So I know I went with the Lion King reference. And again, Scott had made multiple movie reps. Like, do I really do this? Or I go a different route. So we had kind of kicked around the idea. My wife is a massive office fan.

Like every time she's falling in.

And so there was a specific episode that I wanted to reference, not show the clip.

But, you know, naturally people gravitate towards Michael, Dwight, Jim and Pam.

Andy was always one who was intriguing for me just because of his character development. Oh, yeah. But specifically, the episode I was going to reference was Garden Party because I think that is a testament to why he behaves the way that he does. Oh, yes. He's a longing for affirmation from his dad. It's gut-wrenching when he's trying to sing it with his dad. I know exactly.

And his brother

Hot Jacks the moment. Yeah. And his brother is he's the famous like opera singer. Was it like Josh Grover? Josh Grover, yeah, was the brother. Yeah. He's just perfect. The dad was. Yeah. Oh, because identity. Because of identity.

Shoot, man, if you don't watch the office,

and the garden party does display that identity piece so clearly. It does. Now, disclaimer with that, the reason it didn't make it in my wife and I were talking about this and it was just me like, man, I've got a, maybe it's a personal preference, not a high conviction, but the way that episode opens, spoiler alert and disclaimer, it's kind of a little bit more on the provocative side. I'm thinking about, hey, do we have, you know, church family out there who struggles with certain things, whether it's students or, you know, whatever their past may be. So I don't ever want to intentionally or unintentionally be a stumbling ball for somebody else.

Point people to something for a moment, but then they watch the whole thing and you're like, uh-oh. He's so much better than me. I would have been like, watch this episode. Hilarious. Oops. Sorry. Oh, I forgot about that. Don't watch the whole thing. Yeah. All right. There's those moments.

Okay.
