The, it's been an interesting week, folks. Again, it's been a very interesting week. I'm going to

talk to you a little bit about, as I open the show, Communists and Kings.

You know, we saw the No King's demonstrations in full bloom this week, and the No King's illusion

is not really about kings or tyranny or dictators. Many of you may not be surprised by that.

Across the country this weekend, the no king's protests took place with demonstrators

claiming that Donald Trump represents a threat to democracy, some even going so far as to call him a tyrant.

That's strong language, but it's worth asking a simple question.

Is that what's actually going on here?

Because if we're going to use words like king and tyrant, we should all be very clear about what they mean.

A tyrant is someone who operates above the law, someone who is unchecked, unaccountable, and free to rule by personal authority or cult of personality.

That idea has been debated for centuries.

In 1644, Samuel Rutherford wrote Lex Rex, which is Latin for the law is king. It was a direct challenge to the prevailing idea in Europe and

elsewhere at the time that rulers and monarchs themselves are above the law. In fact, that they are the law.
