You see it's all the time. Americans aren't happy.

Unhappiness is a big problem.

Yeah, it is.

It is.

You know what is happiness?

Gratitude.

We know this.

Everybody knows that.

Not telling you something you don't know.

Gratitude makes us happy.

But think about what our culture actually does.

It does everything it can to undermine gratitude.

Honestly.

So, of course, we're going to have an unhappy culture.

It encourages us to resent people who have what we want.

We're encouraged to constantly want new things, constantly want something new.

We're encouraged to think that if we don't get every desire that it's not fair.

We're encouraged to see ourselves as victims as everybody else in our lives, of everyone else,

in our lives. We're encouraged not be content with how we look. Ever? Never be content. There's always this other thing you could try and look better it never ends
