We knew there was going to be blowback to Jeff Bezos' decision to spike a Washington Post

endorsement of Kamal Harris for president, but now we're starting to learn just how bad. David Fulkenflick at NPR reported yesterday

that the Washington Post has lost a whopping 200,000 subscribers in basically one day. That is an 8%

cut, which is hot damn. That's big. Yesterday, Bezos sought to justify his decision, arguing that people don't actually trust the media

and that the media shouldn't be in the business of endorsements anyway.

Okay, fine, that's a reasonable argument and one I personally agree with,

but maybe you don't institute that change 11 days out from the election when your own company

is also meeting with Trump people. Meanwhile,

on the campaign trail, Donald Trump heads into the belly of the beast today, Allentown, Pennsylvania,

which is a majority Latino city that's home to the state's largest Puerto Rican population. This, of course,

comes just two days after Donald Trump's Madison Square Garden rally featuring a speaker,

Tony Hedgecliffe,

who called Puerto Rico a floating island of garbage.

Those comments about the island have spread like wildfire, our colleagues report this morning.

Puerto Ricans, some who were actually indifferent about who they were going to support,

are now furious with Trump, providing an 11th hour jolt of energy for Democrats who hope

this will propel Kamala Harris to victory in the state. Some people are planning to protest Trump's

rally today. Allentown schools are closed out of an abundance of caution, and the DNC, meanwhile,

is erecting billboards around town to highlight Hinchcliff's inflammatory comments. But it's not just

the Puerto Rican community that's watching.
