First up, President Joe Biden says he will formally apologize today for the country's role in forcing indigenous children for more than 150 years into boarding schools.

Investigations found many of them were abused and more than 950 died.

The apology comes after his Interior Secretary, Deb Holland, launched an investigation into the system shortly after she became

the first Native American to lead the agency. Biden will make remarks and the apology in his first

diplomatic visit to a tribal nation right outside Phoenix. On Thursday, as he left the White

House, he said, quote, I'm doing something I should have done a long time ago to make a formal apology to the Indian nations for the way we treated their children for so many years.
