Today is the one-year anniversary of the last time President Donald Trump spoke to Speaker

Nancy Pelosi.

We're living through the most difficult year in most of our lifetimes, and the President

Speaker of the House have never spoken. And it seems like someone is stuck in 2017.

Trump said last night to Savannah Guthrie on the NBC Town Hall live from Miami that Senate

Republicans will go big on a COVID relief plan. He said the reason they haven't said yes is because he hasn't asked them to.

And we've got an update from Washington's most eager man.

Treasury Secretary Stephen Mnuchin and Pelosi spoke for 80 minutes Thursday

and said they made progress in their quest to get a COVID relief deal.

There are 18 days until the election.

Here's a rarity. Not a single story on the front page of the New York Times mentions Trump

before the jump. Our colleagues, David Siders, and a neda Kumar make some good points in a story

on last night's town halls, noting it was less of a split screen and more of a breach in the

political universe. Flicking back and forth between Biden

and Trump, as I did last night, was like going from Bob Ross to WrestleMania. For all the

Flack NBC got Guthrie pressed Trump quite hard and elicited interesting responses. The White

House and Trump campaign were suggesting late Thursday that Guthrie was not focused on the issues
