| 0:00.0 | Hello, it's Thursday the 14th of October and thanks for joining me, Simon Calder, for the latest on travel and destinations from the Green List and the travel desk of the Independent. |
| 0:11.1 | For a third day running, I am in beautiful Ackaba, Jordan. |
| 0:15.9 | Well, actually, to be honest, the town itself is pretty scruffy. |
| 0:23.6 | But the surroundings, the location are unmatched anywhere in the world. I've come down here to the harbour to tell you all about it. |
| 0:30.6 | I don't know of anywhere else in the world where you can simply look at four different countries. |
| 0:40.3 | But you can hear. It is absolutely magnificent. It is the top of the Gulf of Aqaba, which |
| 0:47.3 | feeds, or is part of the Red Sea, which in turn feeds into the Indian Ocean. And the view is extraordinary. |

| 1:07.0 | The warmth of the welcome you get, if you are a stranger here, is fantastic. |
| 1:13.5 | And of course, I'm at the very far south of Jordan if you go further north. |
| 1:18.1 | Well, the first thing you find is Wadi Rum, which is real Lawrence of Arabia territory. |
| 1:23.8 | Then Petra, the amazing Nabatian ruins, the treasury there, hewn from the bare rock. |
| 1:32.5 | Further north, you have the King's Highway, which leads up to Amman, the capital, a friendly sort of place, |
| 1:39.3 | and then beyond that, Gerash and its Roman remains. Not forgetting, well, you can go from the Red Sea to the |
| 1:46.1 | Dead Sea, this amazing body of water which is way, way below sea level and which is a wonderful |
| 1:54.2 | location for lying down in the water and, if you remember newspapers, reading the newspaper, |
| 2:00.0 | what a magical, magical thing to do. |
| 2:04.0 | Anyway, Jordan is just part of the picture here, literally, as a truck goes past. |
| 2:12.4 | And a little wave there, and it's full of onions, you'll be pleased to know. |
| 2:15.9 | So no onion shortage is here, and no HGV driver shortages either but looking to my left I can |
| 2:26.6 | see the coast disappearing into the haze but I can just make out a little bit |
... |
