| 0:00.0 | These guys know how to connect with you about Boston sports. |
| 0:04.2 | I can't disagree with that. |
| 0:07.2 | Pelger and Maz on 985, the Sports Hub. |
| 0:11.9 | They're in trouble on a lot of fronts. |
| 0:14.4 | Scary times right now. |
| 0:15.7 | They were scary bad last night for what I saw, and I did not see the third period. |
| 0:19.0 | So apparently they tightened it up in the third, made it a game. |
| 0:21.7 | They did. They made it a one goal game and a couple empty-netters. Made it six-three. So I didn't see the third. So if what I'm about to say doesn't apply to the third, then fine. But everything I saw before that and in the game before, scary. That's what's important. I watched the whole thing. And you tell me, did one defensive pairing outside of maybe Miller and McAvoy look good to you last night? |
| 0:40.6 | I think it's the whole thing. And you tell me, did one defensive pairing outside of maybe |
| 0:37.8 | Miller and McAvoy look good to you last night? I think it's the whole team. I was hard to pin it on |
| 0:43.0 | one pairing versus the other. I think no one's covering anyone and no one can handle the puck. |
| 0:46.9 | I mean, it felt like in the parts that I saw, it felt like there were an unbelievable number of |
| 0:52.8 | guys in front of the neck getting the puck for Colorado. |
| 0:55.8 | The number of open guys they had in the slot, holy crap. |
| 1:00.9 | Scary. |
| 1:01.8 | It's scary. |
| 1:02.4 | If you're actually watching them play, it's, I mean, it's not just bad. |
| 1:06.1 | It's like scary bad. |
| 1:08.2 | And I'll just give you a few thoughts here. |
| 1:10.0 | Look, it's scary times for the Bruins on more than one front. Let me give you one front. TV ratings last night. Yankees game did a 3-3. Bruins, Avalanche did a 1-6. Celtics preseason did a 1-1. Wow. So the Celtics 1-1 for a pre-season game is pretty good. And it almost catches the Bruins in the regular season. Now, I know they were down 4-1 in the second, and people probably tuned it off, and the Bruins did a good opening night number. But that's scary. The Celtics preseason is almost caught up to the Bruins. So that's where the Bruins are right now. They're on the verge of falling off the map. And if they continue to play like this, they're going to be all the way off the map. It's going to be Revolution Territory. What scary, wretched play. Just two things stand out. Their puck management, they can't hang on to the puck or complete a pass. And Maz's thing. Their coverage in their own zone. the amount of odd man rushes are giving up, which happens. But then they can't close on two-on-ones, they can't close on three-and-twos, and just defensive zone coverage, period. How many wide-open shots has Colorado gotten these last two games? And good ones. Good ones. Okay, so on top of all that, can I add one more, and you tell me if I'm out of my mind? You bet. How about the goalie? Horrible. I want to say horrible. He's a sitting duck on a lot of those, but certainly hasn't bailed you out. Certainly hasn't kept in games. You know, he's already three games in, he ranks 29th in, say, percentage, 870, 26th and goals against, 3.76. That didn't take long for him to get right back to the bottom of the league. I think he's been... You know, I don't want to say garbage, that's too strong. He has not been good here in the early part of the year. So, I mean, but I mean, let's just set it straight. It starts with the players in front of him, but it's not like he's bailing them out. So, like, that's what you want. He's the third highest paid goal in the league. That guy's supposed to bail you out, make saves and stand on his head, and every once in a while, you know, win you a period, you have no business winning. he when you have a period or a game, you have no business winning. He hasn't done that. It's only three games, but he hasn't done that, not even close. And again, Colorado's hit a lot of, you know, bar down and inside the pipe and a lot of shots, but also he's too good, he's just going down on the goal line. He's not coming out and challenging shooters, so he's giving up those opportunities. He's not coming out and challenging. He's not coming out and, I don't know, making up for your mistakes, that's for sure. But, you know, he's just on the list. It doesn't start with him. It starts with you can't control the puck, and you aren't covering in your own end. I mean, the number of open guys Colorado had in front of the net last night was unbelievable. |
| 3:43.9 | And it's not just a youth thing either. McQuaid, Chara, Kroog, and I know Krug's coming back from this injury, but still, like they all collectively look like ass last night. Ass, ass, two straight games, total ass. Like Dave Lewis era ass. like running around, don't know who to cover, don't know how to get back in their lanes, can't control the puck. Scary. So I told you a while ago, right? Like, I was intrigued by this Bruins group. You know, they get some young guys that have been getting some hype. Now they're out on the ice, McAvoy, Bjork. You go right down the list. You get a lot more, and some of them aren't even here yet. |
| 4:29.0 | What if they suck? Well, that's the thing. I mean, these two losses? This is a bad avalanche team. They didn't make the playoffs last year. This team sucks. Did they make that many improvements this off season? I think they were the worst team of the league last year. |
