the coastal region under extraordinary bombardment by Israeli jets and artillery and the siege

tightening.

Here on the ground, nearly 3,000 people have already died in less than a week of brutal

violence.

In Israel, more than 1,200 people have been killed.

That includes 27 Americans.

The U.S. government now says it will begin operating charter flights tomorrow to evacuate

any of the more than 100,000 Americans currently here.
