Hey, good morning. I'm playbook co-author Eugene Daniels. It is Tuesday. October 1st, ladies and gentlemen.

October 1st, we made it to October somehow. Here's what's driving the day. First, some good news. Former President Jimmy Carter

has reached 100 years old, becoming the first American president to ever reach triple digits.

In his honor, the construction of 30 new homes and a benefit concert are things that are marking the former

president's 100th birthday. That benefit concert star-studded at Atlanta's Fox Theater was earlier

in September. It raised $1.2 million so far to support international programs of the Carter Center.

The concert airs on Georgia Public Broadcasting

today. Also, all eyes continue to be on the Middle East after Israel began a, quote, limited ground

operation in southern Lebanon on Tuesday. It's a significant escalation of the conflict against

their armed-backed militant group,

Hezbollah. The decision to send troops into Lebanon begins a new phase of this conflict.

It comes after intense Israeli bombing that killed Hezbollah's leader Hassan Asrallah on Friday in an

irstrike in southern Beirut. Israel says its strikes on Lebanon have also killed other high-ranking Hezvilla figures and targeted stockpiled weapons.

Also, tonight is the night Senator J.D. Vance and Governor Tim Walls face off in the first and only vice presidential nominee debate this election cycle.

The debate kicks off at 9 p.m. It is 90 minutes and there will be two four-minute commercial

breaks. You can run to the bathroom or get more hot wings. The debate is being hosted by CBS

in New York City and the moderators are Nora O'Donnell and Margaret Brennan.
