House Majority Web, James Clyburn, had this to say speaking to the Jewish Federation of Charleston on Wednesday night.

Quote, I'm not too sure that Democrats have yet developed the will to win in 2022.

Jewish insiders Mark Rod, who covered the event, writes that Clyburn characterized the current ideological divides in its party as the major threat to its tissue-thin majorities in the House and Senate.

Cliborne explains, quote, progressives have got to feel like they can take a chance on moderates, get outside of their comfort zone.

Moderates have got to feel the same way about progressives. And between those two, you've got

the New Democrats, you've got the Congressional Black Caucus, you've got the Congressional Hispanic

Caucus, you've got the Asian and Pacific Islanders, all of us operating within her comfort zone.

It'll be interesting to see how reconciliation exposes the party's vulnerabilities going into the midterm election year.

A senior White House official recently described reconciliation negotiations as a quote,

Nineway Tater-totter.

Yesterday was a good example.

Ever since Senator Kirsten Sinema nicks the party's plan to raise corporate capital gains in individual tax rates,

Democrats have been struggling to rebalance the revenue plank.

Senator Ron Wyden jumped on the seesaw Wednesday morning with his billionaire's tax idea.

Within hours, it was knocked to the ground by Senator Joe Manchin, who called it convoluted.

Democrats spent the rest of the day scrambling for replacements.

Late Wednesday night, they zeroed in on a millionaire surtax,

a version of which had been included in the original House plan.

It has the benefit of being popular, simple, and capable of raising lots of revenue.

But that comes with the usual caveat.

Democrats got excited about a carbon tax and the aforementioned billionaire's tax before
