I'm Dr. Lisa Pressman, and today we're talking about OCD for

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, and I've enlisted one of the country's leading clinicians,

Dr. Laura Bader, who's also written

droves of academic papers about treatment,

but is actually in the front lines at Northwell Health Behavioral College

partnership at Zucker Hillside Hospital.

She's also an assistant professor of psychiatry at the Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra, Northwell.

And she was actually just featured on this incredible documentary called One South portrait of a psych unit that is on HBO and Max because

they actually filmed an unprecedented glimpse into the college-age inpatient psychiatric unit at

Northwell's Zucker Hillside Hospital. So that's kind of mind-blowing to watch. But anyway, today's episode is about O. C. D. And here's what I want to say. First, just

important to note that we talk about mothers a lot in this episode, and I just want to remind everybody that mother is a proxy

for whomever the primary caregiver is so you don't actually have to be the mother

to be the mother to be the mother.

And also that it's really important to learn about OCD

because we have a lot of misconceptions

and there's a ton of information that is useful early on for prevention and to get a sense of whether or not

something is going in the direction that needs more intervention or support.

especially because it's so hard for people to distinguish between what's
