Usually in this podcast, we're looking at the evolution and the history of the horror genre one series at a time.

But we are currently in the middle of a hiatus between our 11th series on man-made monsters

and our upcoming 12th season of the podcast on childhood nightmares, which kicks off later in the year.

But I had to take this opportunity to drop a little bonus episode to discuss one of the best horror

movies of the year so far. Curry Barker's obsession, I am obsessed with obsession. This film

absolutely terrified me and I wanted the chance to discuss the movie in depth. And loads of you

guys also got in touch to request a deep dive, spoilerific discussion of the movie. So here it is.

Later in the episode, I will be joined by the brilliant Juliet Sug to discuss the movie in

spoilerific detail. But first of all, here is a little chat that I had with the writer and

director, Curry Barker. This guy is very much on the up. He started off as a YouTube content creator. He made

a short horror film The Chair. He also made the found footage horror film Milk and Serial, which

became a bit of a viral sensation back in 2024. Now he is the new hottest kid on the block.

He's even going to be directing a new Texas chainsaw massacre movie

in the next couple of years. So, uh, please enjoy my conversation with the new Wundekind

of horror, Curry Barker. Kari Barker, hello, thank you so much for joining me. Um, just tell us,

for people who don't know, tell us a little bit about kind of where the idea for obsession came from.

Where did this project start for you?
