join me in prayer as we seek God's help and understanding his word.

Our Father, as we think about these issues of envy and slander, which are on the horizon

for our consideration, we ask you to give us, first of all,

an understanding of what they are, secondly, an ability to see them in our lives where they might

exist. And thirdly, how to understand our obligation to kill them. Every day of our lives,

we ask this in Jesus' name. Amen. All right, friends,

1 Peter 2, 1 through 3 is what we've been looking at. We're just in verse 1 still. Peter writes to

us, so put away all malice and all deceit. We dealt with those two in yesterday's episode.

And today, hypocrisy and envy and slander. Okay, so three more

things. What are each of these? Okay, hypocrisy. I think we all instinctively know what hypocrisy is.

It's when a person says one thing but does another. Or they brag about themselves in this way,

but then when you get to know them,
